For the second time in as many days Clear Creek Amana used some late magic to pick up a victory.
On Monday, the Clippers used a pair of late goals to rally for a 2-1 win over Mid-Prairie.
In its home opener on Tuesday Clear Creek Amana broke a scoreless tie with a goal off a free kick with under two minutes to play on its way to a 1-0 win over Class 2A seventh-ranked Central DeWitt.
The win was the third straight for Clear Creek Amana (3-1) while Central DeWitt dropped to 2-1 on the season.
The lone goal came on a free kick in the 88 minute when Tyreke Williams sent a shot from 75 yards out toward the goal. It bounced in front of the keeper but got over his head and into the goal to snap a scoreless tie.
“We really weren't looking forward to an overtime game having played last night and the pace of the game was frenetic especially in the second half,” Clear Creek Amana coach Tim Benson said. “Tyreke put up a prayer, and the answer was yes.”
Senior keeper Ian McDonald had four saves while posting the shutout in goal.
