Girls Basketball Roundup: City High Offense Explodes in Win Over CR Washington

Ashley and Aubrey Joens combined for 46 points in City High’s win at Cedar Rapids Washington last month.
The Joens sisters had plenty of help in the rematch on Tuesday.
Class 5A fifth-ranked City High had five players score in double figures and rolled up a season-high point total in a 95-40 win over the Warriors in a Mississippi Valley Conference Valley Division matchup in Iowa City.
Kenya Earl had a game-high 18 points and Ashley Joens and Rose Nkumu each had 16 as City High improved to 19-1 on the season and 11-1 in MVC play with its fifth straight win.
Aubrey Joens and Sydney Schroder both had 14 points for City High.
Caitlin Riley had eight points for Cedar Rapids Washington which dropped to 7-13 and 4-8 in MVC play with its fourth straight loss.

West High rolls past Linn-Mar
Class 5A fourth-ranked West High rolled to a 65-35 win over Linn-Mar in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division matchup in Marion on Tuesday.
Rachael Saunders had 21 points and Maddie Huinker added 14 for West High.
The win was the third straight for West High and improved the Women of Troy to 17-3 on the season and 11-1 in MVC play.
Linn-Mar dropped to 11-9 on the season with its fifth straight loss and fell to 7-5 in MVC play.
Top-ranked Marion Stops Clear Creek Amana Winning Streak
Class 4A top-ranked Marion made a school-record 18 3-pointers on its way to an 84-46 win over Clear Creek Amana in a WAMAC West Division contest in Tiffin on Tuesday.
Karsyn Stratton had 13 points and Lauren Helle had 12 points as Clear Creek Amana had a three-game winning streak end with the loss.
The Clippers dropped to 12-8 on the season and 8-6 in WAMAC West play.
Marion improved to 20-1 on the season and 14-0 in WAMAC West action with its ninth consecutive win.
