Girls Basketball Roundup: Koenig, Crompton Eclipse 1,000-Point Mark

Tatum Koenig continued her hot streak on Tuesday but it wasn’t quite enough to keep the West Branch winning streak alive.
Koenig notched her third straight game of at least 25 points to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for her career but West Branch fell to Class 4A No. 14 Fairfield 67-60 in a non-conference game in Fairfield.
Koenig had 28 points on Tuesday to give her 1,019 points for her career. The junior guard is averaging 27 points over her last three games and 20.4 points per game on the season.
Haley Mullinnix had 14 points, four assists and three rebounds and Abby Knoop added eight points, five rebounds and two steals for West Branch.
Koenig had four rebounds, two steals and two assists to go with her 28 points.
Fairfield improved to 11-4 with the win.
Regina Keeps Rolling
Another fast started turned into another big win for Regina.
Top-ranked Regina raced to a 17-2 lead in the opening five minutes and cruised to a 78-28 win over West Liberty on Tuesday in a River Valley Conference South Division contest in Iowa City.
Regina led 25-7 after the opening quarter and 52-11 at the half, forcing West Liberty into 20 of its 31 turnovers in the first half.
Alex Wiese led Regina with 17 points while Mary Crompton added 14 to eclipse the 1,000-point mark for her career.
The junior guard now has 1,001 career points and is averaging 19.4 points per game on the season.
Sarah Lehman had 10 points, Alex Lehman had eight and Greyson Dumont had seven as Regina improved to 16-0 on the season and 13-0 in RVC play.
