GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: REGINA STAYS UNBEATEN
After winning nine straight games by at least eight 20 points to open the season top-ranked Regina got its toughest test to date on Friday.
The Regals also got their 10th win.
Class 2A No. 1 Regina outscored No. 14 Bellevue 17-6 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 63-50 win in a River Valley Conference cross-divisional contest in Bellevue.
Mary Crompton led three Regina players in double figures with 20 points as the Regals moved to 10-0 on the season and 8-0 in RVC play.
Regina led 46-44 entering the fourth quarter and 51-48 with 5:50 to play but ended the game on a 12-2 run.
Alex Wiese had five of her 15 points during the 12-2 run to end the game including a critical conventional 3-point play.
Regina forced Bellevue into seven straight turnovers during the 12-2 run.
Sarah Lehman finished with 16 points for for Bellevue (8-3, 6-3) which had a five-game winning streak end with the loss.

WEST HIGH ROLLS PAST WAHLERT
Coming off more than two weeks without a game Class 5A third-ranked West High didn’t show any rust on Friday.
West High roared to a 40-12 halftime lead and cruised to a 72-28 win over Dubuque Wahlert in a Mississippi Valley Conference Mississippi Division contest at West High.
The win was the third straight for West High and improved the Women of Troy to 8-1 on the season and 7-0 in MVC play.
Logan Cook led West High with 18 points and grabbed six rebounds while sophomore Cailyn Morgan had14 points and eight rebounds.
Rachael Saunders had nine points while Maddie Huinker and Carrie Callahan each had seven points for West High.
Lauren Zacharias had four assists and five rebounds and Paige Beckner had six points and seven rebounds.
Dubuque Wahlert dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in MVC play with the loss.
