Solon continued to build on its rich football tradition this fall with a district title, a playoff win and a 9-2 record.

On Tuesday, junior Tyler Linderbaum added to his families’ tradition of all-state lineman.

Linderbaum became the first Solon lineman to earn all-state honors since his older brother Logan was a first team selection in 2014 when he was named to the Class 3A first team by the Iowa Newspaper Association.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior played a big role in a turnaround season for Solon that followed a 6-5 mark in 2015.

Linderbaum appeared on the Class 3A offensive line but was a force on both sides of the ball for the Spartans.

Clear Creek Amana senior Tyreke WilliamsHe started at center and anchored a Solon offensive line that helped the Spartans rush for 172 yards per game.

On defense Linderbaum ranked second on the team with 42.5 tackles and tied for the team lead with seven tackles for loss while collecting three sacks.

Senior Jacob Coons (6-4, 215) was a third team selection on the defensive line for Solon after collecting 20 tackles including seven for loss.

The Iowa recruit had a team-high six sacks for Solon.

Clear Creek Amana senior Tyreke Williams was a first team pick at punter after averaging 42.5 yards per punt for the Clippers.

The 42.5 yard average for Williams ranked second in the state among players with at least 10 punts and came on 31 attempts.
