Regina Puts 6 on 1A All-State Team, West Branch Has 5 Honored

Class 1A runner-up Regina was well represented on the all-state teams released by the Iowa Newspaper Association on Tuesday.
It was a familiar name atop the list of Regina all-state picks.
Senior two-way lineman Jared Brinkman was named to the Class 1A first team for the second straight season, headlining a list of six Regals to earn all-state honors.
Brinkman was a first-team selection as an offensive line for the second year in a row after helping Regina average 42 points and 261 rushing yards per game while anchoring the offensive line from his center spot.
The 6-foot-1, 270-pound Northern Iowa recruit also led Regina with 64 tackles and 6.5 sacks from his spot on the defensive line.
Seniors Jack Jensen, Reagan Ries and Sam Stein and juniors Isaac Vollstedt and Michael Conlon were all first-time all-state picks.
Jensen was named to the first team as a defensive back after tying for the team lead with seven interceptions.
The 5-foot-9, 141-pound Jensen had six of his seven interceptions during the postseason and added 20.5 tackles. Jensen also led Regina with 44 receptions for 836 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Stein was a first team pick as a punter after ranking third in the state averaging 41.9 yards per kick on 25 punts.
Conlon, Vollstedt and Ries were all third-team picks.
Vollstedt was selected as a running back after rushing for 1,114 yards and 15 touchdowns despite missing four games with an injury.

The 6-foot-0, 200-pound Vollstedt rushed for 100 yards in four straight playoff games highlighted by a 189, three-touchdown performance in the 1A title game.
Conlon completed 64 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,673 yards and 19 touchdowns on his way to third-team honors as a quarterback.
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Conlon also ran for 725 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Ries was named to the 1A third team as a defensive lineman after making 38 tackles and four sacks.
West Branch had four players earn all-state honors led by senior Colton Dietz who was a first-team selection as a defensive lineman.
Dietz was a third-team all-state selection a year ago and posted 26.5 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks this season.
Senior running back Luke Lenoch and juniors Jacob Graves and Jacob Barnhart were all second-team picks.
Lenoch was named to the second team for the third straight season after rushing for 1,838 yards and 30 touchdowns.
The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Lenoch became the 14th player in state history to rush for 6,000 finishing his career with 6,022 yards and 88 touchdowns.
A 6-foot-6, 285-pound junior, Barnhart was a second-team all-state pick as an offensive lineman while Graves was named to the second team as a defensive back.
Graves led West Branch with seven interceptions and ranked second on the team with 47 tackles.
