Andrea Adam will have a chance to win a medal at the state diving meet.

Adam made sure of that on Thursday.

A senior on the City High team, Adam advanced to the state diving meet with a runner-up finish in the diving competition of the Clinton Regional meet held at Grinnell College.

Defending state champion Claire Park of Pleasant Valley won the title with a score of 469.05 while Adam was second with a career-best mark of 451.15.

The score by Adams on Thursday is 40 points higher than her previous career best and ranks fifth among state qualifiers from Thursday’s competition.

Six regional champions and the next 24 highest scores advance to the state diving meet on Nov. 4 at the Marshalltown YMCA.
