The City High boys cross country team finished 13th at the 11th Heartland Classic on Saturday at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames.

Class 4A seventh-ranked City High finished with 335 points on Saturday, five points in front of ninth-ranked Johnston which placed 14th with 340 points.

Fifth-ranked West High finished 16th with 361 points.

A pair of Kansas powers finished first and second as the top three team finishers were out-of-state schools.

St. Thomas Aquinas edged Edina by one point for the team title finishing with 107 points while Fremont, Nebraska was third with 130 points.

Top-ranked West Des Moines Dowling was the top Iowa placer, finishing fourth with 165 points. Second-ranked Pleasant Valley was fifth and No. 3 West Des Moines Valley was sixth with 214.

Kolby Greiner placed 27th in a time of 15:49.6 to lead West High while teammate Ali Ali was 42nd in 16:06.9.

City High was led by Matthew Dodge who placed 39th in 16:02.6 while Michael Berg was 44th in 16:09.2.

Patrick Bose of Johnston won the team title in 14:54.7 followed by Patrick Roos of Edina in 15:00.9.
