West Branch Rolls Past West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY – The West Branch football team began its season on a positive note by pounding West Liberty 40-20 on Friday
West Branch bolted to a 19-0 halftime lead and never looked back. The Bears led 33-7 after the third quarter.
Senior running back Luke Lenoch led the Bears with 178 rushing yards on 23 attempts. He now only needs 60 yards to break the school’s all-time school rushing record.
West Branch quarterback Beau Cornwall also exceeded the century mark on the ground, rushing for 117 yards on nine attempts.
As a team, the Bears had 47 rushing attempts compared to just seven passes.
West Branch only completed one pass in the game, but it resulted in a touchdown as Cornwell hooked up with Cooper Kabela for a 27-yard scoring strike.
